Firedraco: Fix typos in Notes section

Waypoints (often abbreviated wps) are used to move quickly between locations, serve as the target location for recalls, and as the respawn location for a player after death. The current waypoint is always the one which the player last prayed at or moved to from another waypoint. Waypoints are generally safe areas from aggro mobs.

Syntax
To bring up a numbered list of waypoints type way. To travel to between waypoints, go to a waypoint then use either way <number> or way <name>. Note that the name can be abbreviated i.e. way elb for The city square of Elborat.

Waypoints can be renumbered by typing way reorder <number> <number> to change a waypoint's number or swap two waypoints.

Waypoints can be removed by typing waypoint remove <number>. You may want to do this as when you have too many waypoints, the game will begin to track how often you are using them and remove unused waypoints. You will be informed with a message if this happens, but you can also check explicitly using way check.

Recall
Players can recall to the last prayed at waypoint by using the recall command (which can be abbreviated /) or casting a cleric recall spell such as word of recall or group recall. Players are automatically recalled when the game reboots.

Some rooms or areas are difficult to recall from. In such cases you may see a message that your god "does not immediately respond". You will need to attempt to recall repeatedly or use a more powerful method such as the aforementioned word of recall.

Characters can have their right to recall temporarily revoked by the cleric curse revocation.

Fixed Waypoints
There are several fixed waypoints in the game that have been sanctified by a god - key locations like many major towns and cities will often have a waypoint for players to use. These are typically what players refer to when they mention a waypoint.

The command where waypoint can be used in a well-known area to find out if it has a waypoint. Using pray can be used outside of a well-known area to see if an area has a waypoint, but it will only give you the name of the room if it exists.

List of waypoints
Some waypoints may be defunct, god only, require payment or the completion of quest before use. This list may become out of date as new waypoints are added or removed.

Westering Isles
The Westering Isles are the three "newbie islands" located far to the west of the mainland and surrounding continents. Meant for players up to level 28, the waypoints here (except for those on Archais) will no longer be usable after you gain too many levels.
Temporary Waypoints
High level clerics can use the hallowed ground spell to create a temporary waypoint. As its name suggests, the waypoint must be on land and not at sea or in the air. It also cannot be created at a nosum location. Care should be taken when choosing a location as unlike most fixed waypoint, which tend to be in safe non-aggro locations, these can be created in dangerous areas with aggressive enemies.

When the effect ends, the message is shown.

Notes
* Personal and clan storage lockers can be accessed while at a permanent waypoint, but not a temporary waypoints
* While at a permanent waypoint, characters will not get better at using spells or skills
This spell was originally conceived of and created by the famous necromancer Tarrant in his early years as a human. It summons an ethereal hand to attack the target, dealing both damage as well as freezing and chilling effects. The effects take some time to wear off, and the hand can penetrate almost all armors easily.

When cast on a target, this spell does two things:
* Deal pure cold damage
* Attach a "shivering" affect to the target similar to Chill Touch, reducing their regeneration slightly
Rotting Sphere is a powerful necromancer spell that sends a rather unpleasant mass of ethereal mouths to bite the target, scouring it with poison.

Rotting Sphere deals poison damage over a period of time to the target, and additionally will deal more damage the larger the target is. It is unknown if this damage will stack with itself or if recasting the spell simply refreshes it.

Rotting Sphere has a charge up time before the spell actually hits, so using Haste to reduce it is very helpful. You should also be cautious using it so that you are not stuck in the casting time when you suddenly need to flee, heal, or resummon a minion.

The 'sickening touch' spell is a low level necromancer spell, typically used before combat. When cast, the target's hands become weapons of
sickness for a short period of time. When the target strikes an enemy in battle with his hands, the spell discharges and poisons and sickens the enemy.

This spell, like Burning Hands and Shocking Grasp, requires the use of your hands to trigger the effects. This means you must have at least one hand free to trigger the spell, but you can still wield a weapon to trigger it as long as your off-hand is free.

On hit, Sickening Touch does three things:
* A small amount of pure poison damage
* Poisons the enemy (reducing their regeneration)
* Applies a special damage proc that looks like poison (damage type unknown): <mobile name> looks sick.

The special damage proc deals a small amount of damage over time. The poison and special damage procs can stack on a single enemy, so applying this to multiple minions and/or yourself is very effective.

As you can cast this spell on minions with hands such as Ghouls, or tanks like the Wood Woad, you can use it to stack some damage at the beginning of a fight. Note that you cannot cast this spell on other creatures if they are in combat, limiting its use somewhat without cooperative group members or use of control commands, but you can always cast it on yourself, regardless of if you are in combat or not.

Tips
* Sickening Touch can also activate off of a successful Jab as long as you have a hand free. If you do not have a hand free, Jab will never trigger the spell, even if you successfully hit with it.
It absorbs heat and light, burning with a flame that can only be described as 'blue-black, and blindingly dark'. Its exact origins and planar orientation are unknown, and it can only be summoned in small amounts and for limited times.

This spell can be used in two ways:
* As an offensive spell, by casting it on an enemy
* As a spellcomp generator, by casting it on yourself.

Offensive use
Syntax:
cast coldfire [target]

Coldfire deals pure cold damage to a single target.

Spellcomp use
Syntax:
cast coldfire self

This generates a a ball of coldfire in your inventory, or on the ground if do not have enough space in your inventory. The ball of coldfire is a temporary spellcomp that has a level equal to your necromancer castlevel + 1.

Example:

Spellcomp brewing
The ball of coldfire can be used in brews for the following types of spells:

Firedraco: /* Where is the cave with the bear? I've found the other cave but can't seem to find the crack that leads to the clearing */

This is a list of commonly asked questions by new players. They are mostly taken from actual questions asked on the newbie channel, although for clarity some of the questions may have been reworded.

Getting started
Where can new players get help playing alter aeon?
Alter aeon has a wide variety of ways for new players to get help. Start by carefully reading the instructions on screen, as you progress through the newbie areas and quests, useful tips will be displayed from time to time. There is a large and intuitive help system which can be accessed by typing help <keywords>. It is recommended that all new players make liberal use of this help system, often the answer to a question exists somewhere within it. A good tip to gain familiarity with the game is to type help random while regening. There are also a large amount of material and articles online both in this wiki and on the main website. Questions can always be asked on the newbie channel, many players and gods are newbie friendly and will be happy to help new players get started. If you don't get an answer straight away be patient sometimes players are busy or not online, alternatively you may like to ask your question on another channel, such as gossip.

How do I speak on a channel?
Type the name of the channel followed by a space and then what you wish to say. To see a list of available channels type channel list. Popular starter channels include gossip, chat, zt and newbie.

How do I see who is online?
Type who

What is the best client to use?
For blind or partially sighted players mushz is the best client to use. For sighted players it is dclient. Both clients have been heavily customized and contain a number of advanced alter aeon specific features.

Solving problems
What can I do if someone is trolling me?
The simplest way to deal with this is to type ignore <char name> this will stop the majority of cases and you may never need to hear from that character again.

How do I reduce spam?
There are a number of inbuilt spam filters, type spam to list them and spam <filter> to toggle them on and off. To enable or disable all spam filters type spam on} or spam off respectively. Mush-z has it's own spam filters consult the user manual for more details or ask on the channel zt.

I keep dying what can I do?
First make sure you are running an area with the correct level range for your character. Training con can help make your character become more hardy, as can wearing equipment with more armor and hp. Check the donation rooms for equipment and make sure you are wearing a full set and not missing any slots.

I'm sure I put this item in my container so why can't I now find it?
In some rooms where it is dark it will be difficult to see equipment. Recall to a waypoint or find somewhere else where it is light and check again.

Classes and leveling
How do I level a class?
Type level <class>

How do I see what level my classes are?
Type level or show level

Which is the best class?
There is no single best class, they all have different strengths and weaknesses and it is mater of opinion and personal
preference. As a new player, it's a good idea to try multiple classes to find which playing style suits you best.

Skills and spells
Where can I learn this spell or skill?
Type spell find <spell> or skill find <skill> for a list of trainers. To find trainers in well known areas type where trainer

How do I see the skills and spells I can get for a particular level?
type skill list <level number> or spell list <level number>

What skills and spells should i learn?
Not all skill and spells are necessary and some maybe obscure. Using the check commands can be a good indicator to see what is worth learning. Type check <class>

What should I train first spells or stats?
Type help advice. Early on you will probably want to try out as many spells and skills as possible, to find out what they do, start by spending a couple of practices on each skill, this will give a good baseline from which to improve on. Stats should mainly only be trained when you need them. It is a good idea to keep a few practices in reserve in case you need to train something. Bear in mind, most players will use their first character as a learning experience, so don't be afraid if you make a mistake, there is always the option of resetting or creating another character.

How can I make my spells more powerful?
Generally spells will become more powerful at higher cast levels, this will happen automatically as you level your classes, it can also be artificially raised by wearing equipment with the cast level affect on it.

Areas and directions
How long do areas take to reset?
Repop times vary between areas, although they are usually set to between 30 to 60 minutes. Instances usually take about 30 minutes to reset. Some of the newbie areas may have faster repop times.

Where can I find Vemarken Hidden Gardens?
It is around the northwest corner of Vemarken just off from the hayfields. From the center of town go 4w, 2n, nw, n, w, n and enter the archway.

Where are the Indira ruins?
From The Indira Shrine go n;w;w;w;s;break door;w;enter tunnel

Where is the cave with the bear? I've found the other cave but can't seem to find the crack that leads to the clearing
It's at the south end of the Stony Field on the western side.

Quests
Does quest list always show if there is a quest in the room?
Quests can be started in multiple ways, the two main ways are to type quest list at a questor mob or to talk to them. Explore and talk to mobs in an areas, you may be surprised what you find, and this can sometimes provide extra information and clues to quests. Typing quest near in an area will show all visible quests in an area.

How do I get a list of quests I have accepted?
Type quests

How do I get more infomation on a quest?
Type quest extra <number>

How do I reset or delete a quest?
It is not possible to delete or reset a quest once started it must be completed to be removed from the the quests list.

How do I break the glass coffin in the False temple?
Find and get the mallet from the small forge and use it on the coffin, see The false Temple

Where do I find the person that dumped soap in the fountain?
Talk to the wizard's apprentice northwest and up from Vemarken Town Square.

How do we find honeycomb for helga in the bakery?
Travel east from Town of Indira into the Eastern Indira Forest where the spiders are. Find the clearing and enter the Old Indira Forest, fight off the bixies and enter the hole, where the honeycomb can be found inside.

So I've found the chicken and his wand, and he seems to not care about it. Am I missing something?
Type use wand chicken see the Dispelled a chicken and found a mage‏ quest for further details.

Where do I find the acai berries?
The berries can be brought from Fern on the island near Kordan. See Spent some time as a page to the Earl Montebac quest for more details.

Items and equipment
How do I wear this item on my other finger, wrist or neck slot?
To force an item to a particular slot add the location name at the end of the wear command e.g. wear <item> head. To use the second sot for that location add the number two e.g. wear <item> neck2. Note: to use this with the unwear command prefix the location with a minus sign e.g. unwear -finger2.

Why can't I remove this sword?
Some items have been cursed, which means that when worn they can't be removed, unless remove curse is cast on your character.

Does anybody know what the capital R means in front of donated items?
It means it is a random item usually with stats that differ from the normal loading ones.

Is there a limit to the number of bags/containers i can carry?
It islimited by your dex. Type show carried to see how many items can be carried.

Points
How do I spend explorer points?
Unlike combat points (cps) explorer points (eps) are not spendable. They are mainly for bragging rights and to show how much of an area has been explored, a small amount of experience and gold is awarded for each point.

What are combat points for?
Combat points can be used to improve how well you know a particular skill or spell. Spending combat points will improve the skill or spell by 1%. It is recommended you first use practices to train skills/spells as high as possible before using combat points. Type help combat points for more info.

Why is there no explorer points for this area?
Instances don't have explorer points.

Gods
Why do I need to worship a god?
Gods are mostly needed to more reliably recall. In the beginning it is not necessary to worship a particular god however it will become more important as you progress.

Which god should I choose?
All the gods are deliberately fairly similar in terms of the things they can provide characters. It really doesn't matter that much which god you choose however some gods are more active, they are dentin, morpheus, shadowfax, draak and gandor.

Misc
It says I'm feeling slightly sick, what does that mean and what do i need to do?
This means you are poisoned and will regen at a slower rate. Try casting the spell remove poison on yourself or find an item with poison antidote on it such as the spider glands in the Eastern Indira Forest.

How do I save my character?
There is usually no need to save a character it is done automatically.

What's the significance to the random "You feel a slight tingle and you feel somehow abandoned." message that you get when adventuring?
It means your bless spell has fallen which was probably cast upon you by a priest in one of the waypoints.

Do you earn interest if you put your gold in a bank?
No. Banks have nothing to do with earning interest they are there to keep your gold safe, as if you die while adventuring you lose 20% of on-hand gold.

Advanced
How do I use the moneymarket?
The moneymarket is an advanced feature, for converting gold to credits and vice versa. As a newbie it's unlikely you will have much need to use it or be able to earn enough gold to make buying credits worthwhile. If you still wish to use it type help moneymarket.

How do I delete my character?
There is no need to manually delete chars, simply create or start using another and it will automatically be removed after a suitably long period of inactivity. Characters that are part of an active account will never be deleted and idle accounts will only be deleted after a few years of inactivity.

How do I buy credits?
Visit the donate page on the main alter aeon website.
Carve runes

Firedraco: /* List of runes */ Added Kama/Khil runes

Druids have the ability to randomly raise the stats of an item by carving various runes into it. Only certain items can be carved and there will need to be enough spare composite left to make it possible. Runes are permanent unless the object is reforged, in which case it can be recarved. If an object has a minus stat there is a good chance this will be removed during in rhe carving.

Syntax
carve rune <object> - attempts to carve a rune into an item

Material types
When you first learn the skill you are only able to carve on wood which is the easiest materiel to carve on. As you gain druid levels more material types are unlocked.

* carve rune – allows carving on wood.
* petroglyph - allows carving on rock, glass and crystal.
* scrimshaw - allows carving on bone.
* fireband - allows carving on leather and hide.

To search for a specific material in containers, lockers, shops and donation pits use the search switch -type <material>. Note: this switch is currently buggy and may return inconsistent or odd results, also it doesn't allow for searching of more than one material type at any one time.

List of runes
This is a list of runes that may be carved into equipment. Runes can stack, so if a given rune is carved into an item more than once, the affect is additive.
The rune naming system also has a logic. Notice Gesu provides armor, while Gesu-Rune provides protection against something. Ilnak gives mana, while Gesu-Ilnak and Ilnak-Xix result in a magic related affect.

While carving you may see one of four results. 1) A successful carve where a rune is added to an item. 2) A decent layout eludes you, this means you can carve more into the item. 3)You cannot add more runes. This is believed to mean you can add more runes to the item, but only of ones already on it. 4) You cannot bind more magic to the item. Carving is done, nothing more you can do here.

It may be necessary to acquire several pieces of an item to get the rune outcome you desire. Damroll added to mage eq isn't very useful nor is INT on a warrior weapon optimal.

Note, this research was done by a level 14 druid, more runes or different affects for given runes may be available. Some runes may cause different affects, the reason for this is presumed to be either random and/or based on druid carving level. For the best results, have the highest level druid you can find carve important equipment.

This necromancer spell allows you to take several pieces of metal, twist and meld them together, and animate them into a powerful minion.

Animated entities such as this require a small amount of mana to sustain, and may break down if you run out of mana.

Absorbing affects
Metal constructs are unique in that they will take on some of the properties of the metals used in their creation. This translates to them absorbing the resistances of the metals you use. Metal constructs will only use the following affects:
* SAVING_SPELL
* SAVING_FIRE
* SAVING_ZAP
* SAVING_COLD
* SAVING_POISON
* SAVING_BREATH
This includes positive and negative affects, so you can create metal constructs weak to fire by including a large amount of negative SAVING_FIRE.

You can check the current modifiers on your metal construct by deanimating it, then identifying the twisted lump of metal you receive. Note that the modifiers do not include the base resistances of the metal construct, but they also do not stack additively, so SAVING_POISON 80% on the metal lump does not mean that the metal construct will be immune to poison.

* Summoning a metal construct requires metal on the ground; at least 30 pounds of metal objects are required
* A metal construct is mechanical, making it strong against slashing attacks but weak to piercing attacks
* Metal constructs typically have low dexterity
* Metal constructs by default will have good fire resistance, good cold resistance, and very good poison resistance
* A metal construct requires 2 control points.
* Metal constructs can occasionally deal damage to enemies that attack them physically for free
* Only 1 animated minion is allowed at once (see the page on control points)
This necromancer spell allows you to take several pieces of metal, twist and meld them together, and animate them into a powerful minion.

Animated entities such as this require a small amount of mana to sustain, and may break down if you run out of mana.

Absorbing affects
Metal constructs are unique in that they will take on some of the properties of the metals used in their creation. This translates to them absorbing the resistances of the metals you use. Metal constructs will only use the following affects:
* SAVING_SPELL
* SAVING_FIRE
* SAVING_ZAP
* SAVING_COLD
* SAVING_POISON
* SAVING_BREATH

* SAVING_SPELL
* SAVING_FIRE
* SAVING_ZAP
* SAVING_COLD
* SAVING_POISON
* SAVING_BREATH

Absorbing formula
Currently unknown.

Example 1:
<pre>1 15 pound items with SAVING_COLD by 20% and SAVING_FIRE by 5%
1 1 pound item with SAVING_ZAP by 20%
1 1 pound item with SAVING_COLD by 15% and SAVING_FIRE, BREATH, and ZAP by 5%
3 8 pound items with SAVING_SPELL by 10% and SAVING_FIRE, COLD, ZAP, and POISON by 5%
1 12 pound item with SAVING_SPELL by 10% and SAVING_FIRE, COLD, ZAP, and POISON by 5%</pre>

Resulted in a metal construct with the following stats:
<pre>SAVING_SPELL by 90%
SAVING_BREATH by 15%
SAVING_POISON by 50%
SAVING_FIRE by 50%
SAVING_COLD by 50%
SAVING_ZAP by 80%</pre>

Notes
* Summoning a metal construct requires meteal on the ground; at least 30 pounds of metal objects are required
The mid-level 'fear' is typically used for crowd control. Its' primary intent is to strike fear into the heart of an attacker so as to prevent
further conflict from occurring. When successful, the target is seized by an uncontrollable irrational fear of the caster, and will do anything to flee from the caster.

Notes
* Fear deals no damage, serving only to force to target to try to flee the room
* Some enemies (usually guards and the like) cannot be forced out of the room they guard with this spell

This means you must have at least one hand free to trigger the spell, but you can still wield a weapon as long as your off-hand is free.
Note that bloodmist demons generally avoid killing the target outright. When the target is mortally wounded, the demons will stop, allowing the necromancer to soulsteal if desired.
* Bloodmist demons are very vulnerable to area effect spells and mob breath. They will die immediately when subjected to either of these, with the exception of the Earthquake spell, as the demons are flying.
* This attack damages the caster about equal to your Necromancer caster level, so care should be taken when using it

* SAVING_SPELL
* SAVING_FIRE
* SAVING_ZAP
* SAVING_COLD
* SAVING_POISON
* SAVING_BREATH
