A get out of death free card works like a guaranteed version of the clerical spell Prayer for the Dying, instantly transporting a player to their recall site just before they are about to die, thus saving them from certain death. Cards can be received through daily gifts, though the chance of getting one is low. They may also be purchased at a normal price of 200credits per card. When on sale, they are usually 180 credits per card.

notes
*Get out of death free cards will not recall you if you kill yourself.
*They will also not recall you if you die in PK.
*You can view how many cards you currently have using the score command, or by typing show deathcard.

Using this skill, a thief drives a shadowy stake through the target's shadow, prevent the target the moving. This greatly hinders the target's ability to move and defend themselves.

Notes
* This skill can be used in cross-class combos with Battle Tactics
* Obviously the target must cast a shadow for the spell to work.
Tips
* Shadow bind is useful for creatures that are likely to flee.
** It is particularly useful to shadow bind just before clerics start to turn undead.
** Can help prevent backstabbers fleeing and backstabbing again.
*Shadow bind decreases the ability of opponents to dodge attacks.
* Many times you will find that monsters are not casting a shadow as the room is dark, placing a light source on the ground may assist you with this.
* Breaking shadow bind can be done by darkening the room or yourself.

Aggressive Mobs
Aggressive mobs will initiate combat with the player. This is as opposed to a passive mob which will only attack if attacked first. Mobs can have different levels of aggression, which determine how quickly (or if) they will attack.

Types
Following are the types of aggro mobs from least aggressive to aggressive on sight.

Dispel aggro
Mobs of this kind will attack if you attempt to cast dispel magic on them. Note however that if they have magic resistance and your dispel fails utterly, they will not retaliate.

Sleep aggro
Mobs of this kind will attack if you lower your guard by sleeping. Resting will not trigger them to attack, however.

Memory aggro
Some mobs will remember that you fought with them and will attack you if they meet you again. This is often indicated with the phrase "X recognizes you as murderer!" Other mobs are able to spread the word that you attacked them, which can cause an entire city of mobs to recognize and attack you in the worst of cases.

Solace aggro
These mobs can attack even if you have a peace or solace spell affecting the room. They usually can usually do this via a spec.

Charisma aggro
Charisma aggro mobs attack if your charisma is lower than some value defined by the creator of the mob. The presence spell can be useful avoiding combat with mobs of this type.

Alignment aggro
These mobs will attack only players who are of a specific alignment, for example an evil monster might attack only neutral or good characters.

Absolutely aggro
These mobs will attack you no matter what unless you make an effort to avoid detection or prevent mob aggression in the room with solace or peace.

Consider
Consider <mob> will sometimes tell you if a mob is aggro or not with the message "X would not hesitate to come after you."
Trip, as its name implies, allows you to attempt to trip an opponent.

When tripped, enemies will have a greatly reduced defensive ability and will be unable to cast spells normally.

It is harder to trip enemies that are smaller or bigger than you; being too large or small will make it impossible. Flying, swimming creatures, or creatures without legs are likewise immune to being tripped.

Using the Fly spell makes it harder for you to be tripped.

Notes
* This skill can be used in cross-class combos with Battle Tactics
* This skill does little damage by itself; use it for the secondary effect of lowering defense or preventing spellcasting

Tips
Mage spell that summons a player or mob. Mobs are much harder to summon than players.

Tips
* If a player is proving difficult to summon, get them to remove all their equipment and move outside towns and cities. Make sure they are not in an area that you cannot summon them from. Many waypoints do not allow summoning.
* A good time to use this is when a player gets left behind because the group enters or climbs something.
* High mana cost (especially if fails multiple times) so best to use group summon where possible.
* Can be used as part of a combat strategy see
*Best used in full mage cast level equipment.
*Grouped players can be summoned even if their nosum flag is on.
* Spell Saves and high weight can prevent summons from being successful.
* Necromancer
* Mage

Bleeding
Sometimes players, usually tanks, choose to wear equipment that gives them HP at the expense of other stats like armor. This is based on the belief that taking more damage during a fight will cause it to reward you with more experience.

|level=13

; Syntax : defend
Defensive fighting allows you to switch into a defensive stance. This stance will greatly increase your ability to dodge and parry at the cost of greatly lowering your attack speed.

While defensive fighting you will not be able to use any offensive techniques such as kick or trip.

Being in defensive stance causes you to have a flat chance for a spell to not be cast (the mana is not consumed, you merely incur a moment of casting lag).

Notes
* You can use riposte while defending; it syngerizes well with the increased parrying ability

When cast, it creates thousands of tiny crystal shards that whirl around the caster, slashing anything that is within their range of influence. This spell is very powerful against swarms of weakly armored enemies or a particularly large one.

Heavy armor will help protect against this spell.

This spell has extremely long lag time. Mage cast level equipment greatly increases its power and effectiveness.

Tips
*Useful in combination with Faerie Fire or Fairy Fog as the damage type is normal and goes up against the target's Armor.
*Utilize high Armor and Normal Resistances (via Stone Skin and Armored Skin or black Demon familiar) to prevent damage.
*Higher damage versus larger targets, being very small can help prevent the damage taken, using it on large targets increases damage taken. (see Size)
*Higher casting level results in more rounds of shards, potentially leaving you more vulnerable than a lower level cast would have.

Summons a mass of entangling roots which engulf the target and hinder their mobility. The spell is similar to Shadow Bind in that it helps pin a target in place, preventing them from fleeing. Unlike shadow bind, roots also prevent the target from using skills that require extended use of the feet such as leap attack and kick.

Notes
* Though similar, the spell is less effective than the thief skill Shadow Bind(Though only for preventing mob fleeing.)
* Roots are an attacking entity and can be destroyed in combat or pacified using Peace or Solace. They are also vulnerable to being dispelled.
* Roots last for 1 or 2 ticks depending on the level of the spell and the target's size, strength, and saves, but may be refreshed (and the roots fully healed) by recasting the spell targeting the roots themselves.

Tips
* Useful when Shadow Bind is unavailable.
* Fire spells work well against roots; Sunstorm and Firefield are particularly effective when multiple members of your group are entangled. Hitters can use cleave to destroy roots. Shard Storm is also very effective against roots due to their low HP.
* Increasing size helps to prevent roots from tangling. Larger opponents are also harder to entangle than smaller ones.
* Groupcasting helps to entangle larger opponents.
* Entangling yourself is an effective way to reset shadow fiend out-of-combat timers.
