Defensive fighting allows you to switch into a defensive stance. This stance will greatly increase your ability to dodge and parry at the cost of greatly lowering your attack speed.
While defensive fighting you will not be able to use any offensive techniques such as kick or trip.
Being in defensive stance causes you to have a flat chance for a spell to not be cast (the mana is not consumed, you merely incur a moment of casting lag).
